*Airborne High Flyers Program*
High Flyers Jr. is a program for young athletes who are between the ages of 4-8 years old. These little athletes work on the fun, fitness, and fundamental aspects of trampoline gymnastics to improve their strength, flexibility, and motor skills. The primary goal of this program is to introduce the trampoline enthusiasts to specific preparation necessary for competitive trampoline and tumbling. Throughout the year, athletes will work on mastering fundamental T&T skills, building up their skill repertoire for eventual routine preparation and learning fun new flips and tricks.
There will be an emphasis on increasing physical literacy components such as strength, balance, agility, flexibility, spatial awareness and coordination. This is all designed to accelerate athletes' learning and ability to eventually progress into our Pre Competitive and Pre National levels.
Within this program, there will be an emphasis on proper form and technique. Coaches will be looking for proper skill shapes, pointed toes and stuck landings. However, we do know that with these little athletes we have to keep things fun! Coaches will use games and fun drill stations to provide more depth of skill learning... sometimes we have to trick those athletes into working on fundamental movements.
Athletes must be assessed to join this program. Airborne coaches look for athletes showing an extreme interest in the sport of trampoline. Although a positive attitude and a love for bouncing are super important, coaches will also assess athletes' skill level to make sure this is the appropriate program for them.
