What is T&T?
Trampoline and Tumbling, commonly known as T&T, is an exhilarating sport that combines the powerful strength of gymnastics with the thrilling heights and acrobatics of trampolining. It is a dynamic discipline that showcases athletes' strength, precision, and aerial skills.
In trampoline, competitors perform a series of gravity-defying maneuvers on a large, bouncy trampoline. The athletes soar high into the air, performing flips, twists, and gravity-defying somersaults with the aim of achieving maximum height and executing flawless landings. The trampoline acts as a springboard, propelling athletes up to exceptional heights, allowing for incredible mid-air displays of agility, control, and explosive power.
The tumbling component of the sport involves a series of acrobatic movements performed on a long and narrow tumbling apartus. Athletes execute dynamic sequences of rapid back flips, somersaults, handstands, and a variety of twists. They display exceptional strength, coordination, and flexibility as they seamlessly link their elements together, aiming to maximize height, speed, and difficulty while maintaining precision and control.
Trampoline and Tumbling is not just about individual skills and power, but also about mastering intricate routines that involve various combinations of flips and twists. This combination of technical expertise, athleticism, and fearlessness is what sets T&T apart from other sports, creating a captivating spectacle for athletes and spectators alike. The sport challenges athletes to push their boundaries, constantly striving to improve their technique and take their skills to new heights. Athletes need outstanding body control, spatial awareness, and quick reflexes to execute complex maneuvers with impeccable timing and precision.
Athletes are judged on their execution, difficulty, and control, with competitors battling to achieve the highest scores and claim victory. The sport’s fast-paced nature, combined with its high-flying moments, leaves audiences on the edge of their seats, captivated by the incredible feats unfold before their eyes.
Trampoline
A single competitor will perform two routines on the trampoline, each consisting of 10 different skills. Competitors fly as high as 10 meters in the air, while being judged on their execution and their degree of difficulty. Trampoline is one of the closest ways a human can get to flying.
Synchronized Trampoline
Because bouncing as high as you can with up to 27 flips in a 10-skill routine isn’t difficult enough, synchronized trampoline exists. Still being judged on their difficulty and execution, athletes are now judged on synchronization with a partner on a separate trampoline just beside them. Partners compete on their separate trampolines with the same routine at the exact same time.
Tumbling
Tumbling competitors will complete two different routines, of up to eight skills each (dependent on level). Routines are performed down an 84-foot long "tumble-track" that they flip and tumble down from one end all the way to the other. Competitors are judged on execution and degree of difficulty.
Double Mini Trampoline
When competing DMT athletes sprint as fast as they can and jump across the Double mini to land on a mat on the other side. Sprinting full force at a trampoline is intimidating enough, yet some athletes compete 7 whole flips in a 2-skill routine! The competitor will perform up to four different routines with different skills in each and will be judged on execution, degree of difficulty and landing.
